Remember when I told you that your liberalism doesn’t absolve you of murder? I wasn’t just talking about the unjust killing of Black people at the hands of police. Your liberalism doesn’t absolve you of the responsibility to care for and about people in conservative-majority states. Your liberalism doesn’t absolve you of the injustices of climate change. And your liberalism will never absolve you of state sanctioned violence or murder—both of which we are witnessing along our southern border right now. Remember that what’s happening in Texas is the direct result of a climate crisis that many of our most vulnerable people—those that are being directly affected—did little to create. I know there’s a lot of suffering and hurt in the world. It feels like we are bombarded at an almost abusive rate with tragedy after tragedy. I know you’re tired—I’m tired too. It’s okay to feel all that you feel. It’s okay to be overwhelmed by it all—I certainly am. If you are able to donate to mutual aid programs in Texas, please do so.
