A Cuban refugee – my Dad escaped to Spain to pursue his medical degree, eventually following his dream to the United States. Once here, not only did he begin practicing medicine, he and a group of Cuban pathologists opened cytology labs across the Chicagoland area. As his son, watching him purse and accomplish his dreams taught me 2 things: 1) That what may seem impossible, is possible through hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
