Per usual this is a long post... I didn’t take nearly enough picture of this experience but I don’t think if I had taken a thousand pictures it would’ve conveyed how amazing this experience was. I really went from sneaking into Emory in undergrad to hoop because their courts were nicer to teaching there for a semester. 🤯 🤯🤯 I want to thank each and every student for showing up each day willing to learn & try something that probably made no sense. I came into this process with a plan & quickly substituted that for a purpose. I hope above all else, y’all learned that much of the success you will inevitably achieve has to do with your relationship with failure. Your response to it, your understanding of it, the lessons it has for you. I never set out to make y’all comedians, just wanted y’all to be curious & explore your own creativity & each of you did that & made me proud. Glad y’all got to see the @thedailyshow live, @roywoodjr the students & I thank you for that hook-up! To my co-teacher Aela, I came into this experience intimidated by your brilliance and left in awe of it. I learned so much from you, leaned on you heavily throughout, & gained a real friend in the process. I hope we are able to do so much more in the future, could not have asked for a better pairing. Thank you @emoryasj for this experience & everyone who made this semester go so smoothly. Finally shout out to the administrator that said “toot-a-loo” when I left after finally got my Emory card at the beginning of the year...NO she wasn’t white, YES, I am forever changed after experiencing that. This semester was dedicated to you “toot-a-loo” Lady, may you never change. PS. All semester I spent time at my desk, writing on sticky notes. (Check slides 5-6) Premises, thoughts, quotes, etc. It probably looks like the ramblings of a mad man but I’ll miss that office & that desk because I let myself go there & helped re-center what I want out of any of this life/business. Back to getting on these stages for real for real. I’m gonna be a problem all 2023.🤷🏾‍♂️
