🗺️ Today is #InternationalMigrantsDay and we're celebrating the many millions of (now) citizens who chose to make Australia their new home.
These photographs were taken by Tony Banda (Tonin Lush Banda) who arrived in Melbourne in 1954. Tony, his wife Alfreda (pictured) and their small son Rai arrived as immigrants from Albania on the migrant ship, Fairsea. Once in Australia, the two welcomed baby Madalena (also pictured).
Immigration is such a vital feature of Victoria's history and identity.
We thank our migrant population for sharing with us their knowledge, stories and skills.
