Tonight, I was honored on behalf of @theunbreakableorg as Nonprofit Executive of the Year here in Palm Beach County (what) 😭😭😭🩵🩵🩵 !!! At first, I felt so much shock. Even as I was walking up to the stage to accept the award, I kept asking myself, HOW could this be me? But then I remembered something Quinta Brunson once said: “No, I made every single move in my life so this could happen to me.” Being the founder and director of this organization has been one of the hardest and most remarkable things I’ve ever done. It’s early mornings and very late nights. It’s taking meetings with anyone who would listen to me. It’s talking to random people in line at the grocery store about our mission. It’s using every single chance I get to work with students and empower them to lead. I’ve watched this organization grow from school programming to community outreach, to a scholarship program that has now granted $43,000 to students impacted by gun violence paired with mentorship and hope. It is never too late to start. Start scared. Start nervous. Start unsure. Start with passion. Start with love. Just start, because it could very well lead you to where it led me tonight. I am so grateful. The Unbreakable Organization empowers young people to protect their mental health by providing tools, resources, and educational programs that encourage connection, resilience, and healing. And I’m so freaking proud of this mission. I’m so proud of the work we do. We’re just getting started.
