For those of you asking, here is the news story featured on @7newssyd And for those of you who missed the announcement — last week the NSW announced that funding has been nearly tripled to $21.4 million to expand the NSW Government’s Shark Management Program.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro also said that the ‘increased funding would support the expansion of the effective, “evidence-based” shark management program already in place.’ While we welcome the increased funding for shark safety technologies, we are disappointed to see that shark nets are not being removed from NSW beaches, despite abundant evidence finding that shark nets do not protect people, and they indiscriminately kill marine life. Thank you to Tom Hartley at 7news for interviewing SCA President Ashley Avci who provides further statement on the announcement. Head to @envoyfilm to sign the petition to end shark culling in Australia! 🦈✊ #NetsOutNow #NoSharkCull #NoNSWSharkCull
