Nothing beats a summer sunset in Vancouver 😍🌄 If you saw clouds in the forecast, would you still go chasing sunset or would you save it for another day? ✨Save this post for some tips on how to predict an epic sunset!✨
This may be a hot take, but I will always prefer a cloudy sunset over a clear sky one! There is something extra magical about how the sun illuminates the clouds as it descends below the horizon, and even when the sun has dipped away the clouds are always there giving a little encore of colours and magic!
I used to always think that I had to wait for the clearest day to catch a good sunset, but over time I have learned that there are so many other variables that go into creating a spectacular sunset!
Here are some signs and resources that can help you predict a spectacular sunset:
✨ Clouds that cover 30 - 70% of the sky often yield the most vibrant colours
✨ Low humidity
✨ Low winds
✨ High visibility in the skies
✨ Rainfall that occurred 2-6 hours prior to sunset can often bring about some pretty awesome conditions
✨ and of course apps like AlpenGlow and SkyCandy can be awesome resources to help you predict the chance of beautiful colours in your area - just know that these apps aren’t always accurate and conditions can change! (when I checked the apps on this day they said there was only a 21% chance of colourful skies, but I’m glad I didn’t let that stop me!)
What do you think the best conditions for sunset are? 😍🌄
