“SLICK IT BACK!” slicking black hair back isn’t always the solution. my afro was beautiful. now i have no fro no mo. i understand that everyone has a vision for what they want. but it’s hard to understand why my afro wasn’t apart of it. my hair suffered too much damage that it couldn’t come back from. i seriously cannot believe my whole head of hair is gone. if you know me personally, you know im always talking about how i want to cut my hair, but it’s a difference between wanting to and having to. “it’s just hair, it’ll grow back” i know, i understand. but watching this makes me sad. thank you to the few people who did take their time on my hair, thank you to the two angels who stepped in and took their time to braid my hair down so i wasn’t looking crazy, thank you to the ladies with the heat protectant and the hot comb, thank you @niaws.t for listening to my concerns about my hair and getting someone to do it the right way. ❤️ it was disheartening to sit in a stylists chair and hear “i wish i could get the easier haired models out of the way” and by easier haired, they meant straight. being told to dye the birthmark in my hair black because and i quote, “the grey hair makes you look like an old lady.” like wut in tarnation 😐 the constant anxiety and dread i felt around my hair and getting my hair done this fashion week was insane. realizing that my natural hair has never been worn on a runway and then feeling like it’s because it’s somehow unacceptable, unfit, better off hidden, and glued down to the göt2b glued gods 😂. this is what “slick it back” did to my hair. all hair is not meant to be slicked back. and i don’t think many people take heat damage into consideration. nor the damage caused by rushing through the process and not using the proper tools and products to achieve said look. i know there’s too many models who can relate to this sadly and i think it should be talked about more. this is a problem. how are we gonna solve it? #nyfw #blackhair #protectblackhair
