and the 🍒 on top goes to @maisonvalentino couture by @pppiccioli styled by #joemckenna When Pierpaolo asked how I felt about doing a full (temp) back tattoo at my fitting for this beautiful show, I was of course gagged. When he insisted the design be one of my own choosing, i felt nothing short of honored. We then at the same time said it should be something about ‘freedom’; coincidence? I think not! I spoke about the work of @ilprisonproject and did a mock up of a design with the message of IPP: “hope inspires hope” - a quote by our client Anthony Gay, who spent decades in solitary confinement and was continually prosecuted for manifestations of his mental illness while in isolation. The contrast between my life and the lives of my clients is stark and unfair. Wherever I am, they remain at the forefront of my mind, and I’m so grateful to the Valentino team for allowing me to honor their voices. From paris to rome to chicago - hope is essential to freedom and we must FREE THEM ALL - “never close the door on hope; leave it open. You never know when a miracle might walk in” 🕊 thank you @pppiccioli from the bottom of my heart; this has been one of my most meaningful fashion experiences to date & I can’t wait to see you with your real hope tattoo next time ❤️ #valentino
