Starting from the Asian Games III in 1958 in Tokyo where by the Asian Games Federation, Indonesia was appointed to host the Asian Games IV in 1962. It was welcomed by the First President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno by building a mega project in the form of a sports complex which is equipped with various facilities such as an athlete's home and named Gelora Bung Karno.
